About Me.

Scientist, feminist, geek and artist. I work as a biological electron microscopist and am a bioimaging facility manager. I fill the rest of my time with arts, crafts, reading, exercising and enjoying TV shows and films. 

EDUCATION

B.Sc Biology, M.Sc Biological electron microscopy and Ph.D. in biological sciences. Aberystwyth University. 

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

18+ years experience in biological electron microscopy, TEM, SEM, and specimen sample preparation. Very keen on STEM outreach and have been involved with several STEM exhibitions and a variety of outreach events. Hobbyist in resin art, jewellery making and creating sugar cookies. 

AWARDS / RECOGNITION

​I have won the Royal Society of Biology award for Science Communication as an Established Researcher (2016) and the NEB Passion in Science award in Art and Creativity (2014).
