Using electron microscopy as a source of art
Electron microscopy provides us with a fantastic way to image structures, whether they are for scientific, hypothesis driven investigations or artistic purposes. The images presented on this site are micrographs that have been taken using either scanning or transmission electron microscopy. The images are intended for artistic purposes rather than scientific and as such have been colourised and adjusted. The structures are real biological or natural specimens, adjustment is used to remove debris or backgrounds rather than structure. The purpose to reveal the inherent beauty of the microscopic world and to broaden your microscopic horizons.
